Love - Art - Disease - Pain - Life-Humanness - "Otherness" In our desensitised society, the artists, the bohemians, poor, discarded, "others", recovering addicts - all are more in touch with their human-ness than the so called mainstream. Despite everything - HUMANNESS, LOVE, LIFE, ART survives. -Jonathan Larson

And Then There's Maude...
I haven't posted in a while. Maybe because I've been sick with a cold. Maybe because I've been busy. Maybe because I'm lazy. Maybe because I really don't care? I'm feeling better now...just the residual congestion of the aformentioned cold. Damn Orlando with it's infinite number of tourists who bring disease with them from all corners of the earth.
The Festival of Trees is in full swing...and I've been working pretty hard lately. This year's theme is THE WIZARD OF OZ, but since that would be a broad theme...I narrowed it down. "We Must Be Up Inside The Cyclone" is the title of this year's tree...and it's all a whirlwind. Pun intended. The black and grey tree will be custom, turned up-side down and will spin. Get it? It's the tornado from the movie. At the top will be Dorothy's house, and the tree will be filled with images from the movie. Professor Marvels caravan cart, Dorothy's basket, The Wicked Witch on one side and Miss Gulch on the other, etc. To top everything off, there will be a mini yellow brick road that leads to a display case holding an exact replica of Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers. These will be given away to the highest bidder on the tree...I'm hoping for a big media draw on this one, guys...
My first book signing is this saturday from 11-1 at The Happy Bookseller. Im excited...but I don't know what to expect. In those 2 hours I may sell 20 books, or I may sell none. We'll just have to see exactly how a book signing works...
At 3 o'clock I have to go deal with the bank Nazi's who are trying to squeeze me out of $325 for a safe-deposit box that hasn't been in use for 2 years. You would think that when you CLOSE an account, it actually happens, but NO. You receive a certified letter 2 years later saying that if you don't pay, they will seize the property inside the vault and hold it ransom until you pay what they're owed. Breaking news, First Citizens...there's NOTHING in the box...
