Love - Art - Disease - Pain - Life-Humanness - "Otherness"
In our desensitised society,
the artists,
the bohemians, poor, discarded,
"others", recovering addicts -
all are more in touch
with their human-ness
than the so called
mainstream.
Despite everything -
HUMANNESS, LOVE, LIFE, ART survives.

We all know that sports are a major part of everyday life and conversation and that it's not going to change. I started to realize this while listening to a conversation at work. I came to the conclusion that sports talk is kinda like advanced small talk for men...er most men. Instead of asking, "Hey, we sure got some weather outside, huh?" Or "Does this shirt make me look fat?" we can say "Hey, Did you see that game last night?" This not only gives people an in, it puts everyone on a level playing field for the length of the conversation. Well I guess I can't really condemn sports for this...even though I'd love to. I just think it would be nice if other topics of interest were more popular for small talk. Then us non-serious sport watchers could join in on the conversation. "Hey, did you see Joe Millionaire last night?"
