Love - Art - Disease - Pain - Life-Humanness - "Otherness" In our desensitised society, the artists, the bohemians, poor, discarded, "others", recovering addicts - all are more in touch with their human-ness than the so called mainstream. Despite everything - HUMANNESS, LOVE, LIFE, ART survives. -Jonathan Larson

BRING BACK THE SUN

"Valentine's Day... pan across the empty lot. Roger's down at Mimi's where he's been for almost two months now... blah blah Collins and Angel... blah blah Maureen and Joanne.... Me? I'm here. Nowhere".

Mark Cohen, RENT

"I can't stand it. Look at them laughing and enjoying themselves with their valentines. I sent a valentine to everyone I know this Valentine's Day, and did I get any in return? No, not one. I did not get one single valentine. Everybody gets valentines but me. Nobody likes me. I get about as many valentines as a dog".

Charlie Brown, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown

"Sometimes it hurts more then we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace...but we would be hollow. Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead".

Angel, Buffy The Vampire Slayer

"People don't fall in love with what's right in front of them. People want the dream -- what they can't have. The more unattainable, the more attractive".

Xander, Buffy The Vampire Slayer

OZ (eating animal crackers) : Oh look, monkey! And he has a little hat, and little pants.
WILLOW : Yeah. I-I-I see.
OZ : The monkey's the only cookie animal that gets to wear clothes, you know that? You have the sweetest smile I've ever seen...so I'm wonderin', do the other cookie animals feel sort of ripped, like is the hippo going, "Hey man, where are my pants? I have my hippo dignity." And you know the monkey's just, [French accent] "I mock you with my monkey pants." And then there's a big coup in the zoo.
WILLOW : The monkey is French?
OZ : All monkeys are French. Didn't you know that?

Start Spreadin' The News...

I'm leaving Saturday morning for NYC. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to make of it...I just need to lay back and have a good time. I'm pretty excited about going...any excuse to be away from here right now is good. Im anxious to see how much my bears will fetch, and being with my friends is really important right now. Ash and I are going to try to throw in a few shows while we're up there...but getting tickets might be tricky. Flying and being in a major city right now is a bit frightening, I just hope that Homeland Security is on my side while I'm gone. Maybe I should take some plastic bags and duck tape with me on the plane. Code Orange...sheesh.

It's Valentine's week...and I wouldn't be so sensitive to it if it were'nt everywhere I turn! It's in the media, at work and at the drug store. It's even in restaurants! I turned a bitter middle finger to the ads at Texas Road House today at lunch. All that aside, I still can't hide my true nature. My warm and fuzzy and romantic and caring nature. I read a poem today that really hit home. Too bad that I have noone to give it to:

"Be my ruckus, my perfect non-sequitur. Be my circuit-breaker, my lengthening shadows at dusk, my nest of pine needles, my second story window. Be my if-you-stare-long-enough-you'll-see. Be my subatomic particle. Be my backbeat, my key of C minor, my surly apostle, my scandalous repartee, my maximum payload. Be my simmering, seething, flickering, radiating, shimmering and undulating."
