Love - Art - Disease - Pain - Life-Humanness - "Otherness"
In our desensitised society,
the artists,
the bohemians, poor, discarded,
"others", recovering addicts -
all are more in touch
with their human-ness
than the so called
mainstream.
Despite everything -
HUMANNESS, LOVE, LIFE, ART survives.
-Jonathan Larson

Though it ain't New Year's pop the champagne...
Wow...May is over and now it's almost half past June. Things in my life haven't been better and life seems to be taking an upswing for the good. Mom's health has been improving and dad seems to be having a blast in paradise as usual. Dad came to see me two weeks ago on his way to his High School Reunion in Hartsville. We all ate at Uno's Pizza, which wasn't all that bad! His birthday was last saturday and I hope that my card got there in time. If not, I atone for the belateness. Jimmy and Susan's wedding plans have been going well...though Jimmy's monetary setback at work is a bit bothersome. I'm hoping that something pulls through quickly and soon for him...
I went to stay with Rock last weekend for the first time since we started dating. I got to see the softer side of Honea Path and Anderson...which I've never visited before. Typical small southern town...complete with a Toys "R" Us and Best Buy! We all know that I deem civilization by those two empires of material goodness. I got to meet his mom and stepdad...and his grandparents and all of the "babies"...ha ha. I still haven't been formally introduced to the bovines, though my shoe was introduced to their pasture pies.
Life with Rock has been steadily increasing the love meter. Not only have I found someone to kick back and have a blast with...but there seems no room for relationship stress and drama that is so often found in the typical queerness of life. I dig it, man, I dig it!
Did any of you watch the TONY'S on Sunday? My good friend Jay sang his solo song from "A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD"...and I was so, so, so, so proud to see him. He was so beautiful up there...his voice, the set...everything came together and I got so emotional! It's a shame that the show is closing this weekend, but it will soon be on the road for the tour.
Speaking of NYC, my next trip is planned and reservations have been made. Eric and I are leaving in late July for 5 days of nothing but theatres and more theatres. I have a feeling that we'll be completely and utterely worn out by the time we get back...but I've already started prepping by extending my workouts at the gym to an extra 35 minutes on the track.
I'm MORE THAN PISSED that "Little Shop of Horrors" closed before it opened on Broadway. Danny, Kev, Robin and I had third row seats for July 19th...and we found out that the producers decided NOT to take it to Broadway from the workshop version in Florida, because it was too close to the original off-broadway production. The show is getting a face lift by a new artistic director...and will move to Broadway in the Fall. Thank god the plants are staying the same. The Jim Henson Creature Shop produced all of the puppetry for the show...and from the pictures I've seen they look AMAZING. I'm still in awe that Dan spent over $400 on tickets to a show that wasn't available to be seen. We'll be back up there, though, in the fall...with bells on our toes and wearing lots of green.
I arrived in Charleston yesterday morning to work for a few weeks...and the stress level has been building since I stepped into the office. Adam and I are staying at the SUITE ONE in Charleston...which isn't anything to write home about. They've stuck us in handicapped rooms and you have to pay for shampoo. What a crock. We would change hotels (we actually tried) but there would be too much hassle so we gave in to the lesser ammenities. The woman at the front desk has a B.O. problem, too...she's way ripe and would benefit from a shower and a trip to the Estee Lauder counter.
Last night Tracey and about half a dozen sales reps took us out to T-Bonz on Market St. for happy hour...and they picked up the tab! Adam and I were shocked, but were very pleased with our "Welcome to Charleston" present...ha ha! Tracey rocks! Tonight we're heading to another party for the entire office at Paradise Bar and Grill. Over 450 wings have already been ordered...and it seems that the agenda for the evening is to drink and sing karaoke. How many screwdrivers does it take to get John to sing? LOL...don't worry...I won't be drinking all that much, but the sales reps really know how to party when out of town.
I joined a gym here in Charleston on my lunch break today...and it seems to be totally killer. My routine starts tomorrow...and I plan on going as much as I can over the next two weeks. Deep tissue massage here I come....
Random Thoughts:
• WRONG TURN wasn't all that good. It was a trite plot and the only reason why I saw it was because "Faith" was in it. She wasn't quite as Faith-y as I would have liked...but she did kick a few booties. OOH OOH OOH..."Elton" was in it, too...which really rocked my boat. If any of you know who "Elton" is...you get major dookie points.
• Is it time for ORDER OF THE PHOENIX yet? I'm totally jonesing for this book. I suppose I'll have to wait until next weekend just like the rest of us...
• Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde comes out on July 2nd. I'm totally looking forward to it:
Cast: Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods), Sally Field (Rep. Rudd), Bob Newhart (Sidney Post), Luke Wilson (Emmett Richmond), Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette), Regina King (Grace Stoteraux), Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire); other cast not announced yet.
Synopsis: Pink-loving, blonde-haired Harvard Law School graduate Elle Woods (Witherspoon) returns in this sequel, as she turns her legal and fashion-savvy know-how towards getting a bill passed through Congress, relocating a second time, after adapting her Beverly Hills ways to Harvard, and now... Washington, D.C. The issue at hand is animal testing, which Elle becomes concerned about when the parents of her dog can't attend the pet's wedding because of it. Arriving at the Watergate and not knowing where to begin in the city, she befriends the hotel's elderly doorman, Sidney (Newhart), who becomes her guide to the way the political system works, and how to get her legislation...legislated.

For those of us LEGALLY BLONDE fans who aren't satisfied with just owning the Elle Woods Barbie doll...you can buy accessories for your pet as seen in the movie! This is killer:
